A masterful performance on the Zugspitze: a scaffolding challenge at dizzying heights
Erecting scaffolding at dizzying heights – this was the challenge that XERVON mastered on the Zugspitze, Germany’s highest mountain. Within just three days, the team had erected a scaffold on a steep rock face 2,650 metres above sea level. This 28-metre-long working and protective structure was set up to enable renovation work to be carried out on the rock face and secure it from falling rocks. Preparing the material and logistics for this unusual project was particularly challenging as the Zugspitze is part of the high Alpine region. Each individual part of this 9.5-tonne scaffold had to be first transported up the mountain by rack railway and then on a handcart to the actual site itself. Despite the tricky weather conditions, XERVON succeeded in erecting the scaffolding according to schedule in just three days. A spectacular location for a remarkable project. The key to its success: meticulous planning and expert implementation.
Augsburg’s Olympic Park: uniting old with new
Augsburg’s Olympic Park unites sporting history with modern competitive sport. A bespoke scaffolding structure had to be set up over the site’s white-water rafting course that not only enabled this historic sports venue to be prepared for the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships but also ensured the canoeists could continue to use the course safely throughout the project. This impressive combination of sport and history shows how the Olympic Park can have both UNESCO World Heritage Status and be a modern venue for sporting events.
A church covered in scaffolding at the top of a mountain
Our task: to erect scaffolding around Wendelstein Church – a masterly performance high up a mountain. Simply transporting the seven tonnes of material to the church 1,740 metres above sea level was no easy task. Our experienced scaffolding team, though, successfully performed this great feat. This was not the only challenge, though. Time was also of the essence as the renovation work had to be completed within the short summer season. Despite the difficult weather conditions, we were able to keep to the planned schedule thanks to our smart transport and installation concept.
